Exam technique matters

GCSE Maths is about exam technique.

At GCSE, most students know more maths than their grade suggests. The gap is almost always exam technique — knowing how to set out working, how to interpret what a question is really asking, and how to pick up method marks even when they're unsure.

From the first lesson, your child works on real GCSE exam questions from their board. I teach them exactly how examiners mark answers, so they learn to present their work in a way that maximises marks.

Every level

From a pass to a grade 9.

I work with GCSE students at every level. Some need to secure a grade 4 or 5. Others are aiming for grade 8 or 9. The approach is different for each, but the method is the same: identify gaps, target them with real exam questions, and build confidence through repetition.

Many of my best results have come from students who were struggling. A structured, exam-focused approach makes a bigger difference than most people expect at GCSE.

FAQ

GCSE Maths tuition — common questions.

Yes. A-Level Maths is where the majority of my tuition work lies, and it's what I'm best known for — but I'm equally at home with GCSE. I know the full syllabus inside out across all boards, including the higher-tier topics that trip students up most, and Cambridge Additional Mathematics. Many of my students come to me for GCSE and stay on for A-Level.
Yes. I tutor students on both Foundation and Higher tier GCSE Maths. Whether your child needs to secure a pass or is aiming for a grade 9, the approach is tailored to their target.
All major UK boards: Edexcel, AQA, and OCR — plus the international equivalents. I cover Edexcel iGCSE, Cambridge iGCSE (CAIE), and Cambridge Additional Mathematics. Every lesson is built around the specific exam your child is sitting, using past papers from their exact board.
Yes. Cambridge Additional Mathematics (sometimes called Cambridge IGCSE Additional Maths or CAIE 0606) sits above standard GCSE and bridges the gap towards A-Level. I cover the full syllabus — including functions, calculus, trigonometry, and algebra — and it's a paper I know well. It's a strong choice for any student planning to take A-Level Maths.
This depends on the student and starting point, but a structured exam-focused approach typically produces noticeable improvement within 4–6 weeks. Many students gain 2+ grades over a few months of regular tuition.
